Culvert Replacement Project on TV

(December 29, 2011)   Today WSB-TV (Channel 2) in Atlanta will air a story on the culvert replacement project EcoWise designed for a very ambitious Eagle Scout, Jake Hemingway.  Jake started working on the project in May of 2010 and completed the replacement In October 2011.  During those many months, Pamela Little of EcoWise Civil Design and Consulting, Inc. helped him understand how to read plans, delineate a drainage basin, and understand how hydrologic calculations are completed.  On top of all that he found ways to raise money and encourage donations that allowed him to replace a 30-inch culvert that had washed out in the floods of 2009 with a 72-inch culvert.  The culvert is part of a pedestrian path that links a middle school and high school to adjacent neighborhoods.  During the years that the culvert was washed out, students climbed up and down the stream banks to get between school and home.  In addition to civil engineering services, Pamela Little of EcoWise, also volunteered over 3 days to help install the new culvert. Before and after pictures are attached.
